Specimen:    5 Grams stool submitted in a sterile container. Sample must be submitted to the laboratory within one hour of collection.

Patient Prep: To avoid false negative results, no antibiotics, proton pump inhibitors, or a bismuth preparation should be administered to patient for 14 days prior to specimen collection.

Unacceptable Conditions: Gastric specimens, or tissue. Stool in Ecofix, formalin, MIF, Protofix, PVA, Total-fix, Unifix, or any other preservative.
Minimum Spec:    1 Gram
Transport Temp:    FREEZE
Spec Stability:    Ambient 2 hours; Refrigerated 72 hrs; Frozen 1 month
