|Specimen: ||1 mL whole blood from a Lavender top tube. Also acceptable are tan (sodium heparin) or green (lithium heparin) tubes.|
Unacceptable samples: Blue tubes (sodium citrate) or clotted samples.
Venous or capillary samples are acceptable. If capillary sample collection: Clean the puncture site well with soap and water before the collection procedure begins.

Maine HETL will perform lead testing on children less than 6 years of age. If older than 6 years, order LEAD, ADULT which is sent to ARUP Lab.
