Name:    Chlamydia/Neisseria (GC) by DNA Probe, Urine, Vaginal, Endocervical
Specimen:     First-catch Urine or Vag/Endocervical sample using the Xpert CT/NG Vaginal/Endocervical Specimen collection kit.

Urine collection: Direct the patient to provide first-catch urine (20-50 mL) into a sterile urine collection cup. NOTE: The patient should not have urinated for at least 2 hour prior. Patient should not cleanse the genital area prior to collecting specimen.

Vaginal/Endocervical Swab: Special Xpert Collection kit is required. Detailed collection instructions are found on the SPECIMEN/COLLECTION page. Click the link below.

Label all samples with the patient's name, date of collection, DOB or MRN AND sample collection site.
Transport Temp:    Refrigerated
Spec Stability:    Stable 6 days refrigerated.
Reference Range:    Negative
  Method:    Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)
Note:    For male patients - This test is recommended for routine screening using first void urine samples. Urethral samples are not recommended for routine male screening.

For all patients - This procedure is NOT FDA approved for oropharyngeal, rectal or urethral samples; refer to alternative Chlamydia-GC TMA [CT/NG TMA] procedure at ARUP.

Positive results are reported to Maine CDC.
Processing Info:    Urine, unpreserved sample: 24 hours at Room Temperature or 6 days at 4 C
Urine, in transport vial: 45 days at 2-15 C
Vag/Endocervical: 60 days at 2-30 C
