|Mnemonic: ||[CRYOGL SCR]|
|Name: ||Cryoglobulins, Qualitative w/reflex to Qualitative IgA, IgG, and IgM|
|Specimen: ||3 mL serum from a Red top tube. Do not use GEL barrier tubes. Patient Preparation: Fasting specimen required.|
Read directions in full before performing this venipuncture:
Warm 2 plain red top tubes with no gel (no serum separator tubes) to 37C for 1 minute prior to drawing the sample. (An activated pediatric gel heel warmer works well.)
Draw 2 full tubes and place them immediately back into the activated gel heel warmer or an alternative 37C environment.
Incubate the tubes at 37C for one hour. Centrifuge the samples. Pipette the serum into a labeled transport container. Specifically label the pouroff container indicating that it was kept at 37C.
If unspun samples are being delivered to the lab, they MUST stay at 37C. Do not let the samples fall out of the gel warmer or sit on the counter.
