  Method:    High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)
Note:    Interpretive Data for Hemoglobin A1C: An ion exchange high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method is used. This method has been certified by the National Glycohemoglobin Standardization Program as traceable to the DCCT reference Method. Values less than 7% meet the treatment goal of the American Diabetes Association for patients with diabetes mellitus. Values greater than 8% suggest a need for clinical follow-up.
