|Note: ||- All Zika laboratory testing should be submitted to Maine’s Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory (HETL) for processing and submission to federal CDC. All samples must include the HETL requisition (please write Zika virus testing in the additional information box) as well as the arboviral specimen submission form. |

- PCR is the preferred test if the patient is symptomatic and has returned from travel within the last seven days. Serum is currently the preferred sample. Urine and saliva samples may be required on symptomatic patients for validation of testing. Testing for Dengue and Chikungunya is also recommended for symptomatic individuals.
- Serological testing of serum samples may be performed on individuals outside the seven day window.
