Specimen:     Stool sample collected in iFOBT sample collection kit Collection kits are available from the Office Practices and the Main Lab. Patient instructions for sample collection and labeling are found in the kit.

Specimen Preparation:
Patient will place the sampling paper on top of the water in the toilet and deposit a stool sample onto the paper. The patient will then unscrew the sample wand (green cover) from the container and scrape it over the top of the stool sample until the grooved section of the wand is covered. Place the wand back into the container and tighten the cover.

Label sample with full name, date of birth, date & time of collection.
Spec Stability:    Stable 2 weeks ambient.

Interferences may occur with:
- Bleeding hemorrhoids
- Constipation bleeding
- Urinary bleeding
- Menses
Certain medications such as aspirin and non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs may cause positive results.
