Mnemonic:    [ANCA PN]
Name:    Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibody With Reflex To Titer and MPO/PR3 Antibodies
Specimen:    1 mL serum from a Red SST or Red top tube.
Minimum Spec:    0.5 mL
Transport Temp:    Refrigerated
Spec Stability:    Stable up to 2 weeks refrigerated.

Note:    Samples are screened on ethanol fixed neutrophils, formalin-fixed neutrophils, and Hep-2 slides which allow differentiation of C and P patterns. Negatives are reported. Positives are serially diluted and tested on ethanol fixed slides to establish titer and confirm pattern. All P-ANCA patterns are also tested on formalin fixed slides to confirm.

Myeloperoxidase (MPO) Antibody and Serine Proteinase 3 (PR-3) Antibody are reflexively ordered after a positive ANCA screen.
Processing Info:    Separate serum from cells ASAP. Severely lipemic or hemolyzed specimens are not acceptable.
