|Note: ||Drug Guidelines:|
--Avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen, naproxen or aspirin (more than one adult aspirin per day) for 7 days prior to and during the stool collection period.
--Acetaminophen can be taken as needed.
--Avoid an excess of Vitamin C (>250 mg/day) for 3 days before and during the stool sample collection period.
--Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions about medications you take regularly.
--Avoid red meats (beef, lamb and liver) for 3 days before and during the stool collection period.
--Eat a well balanced diet including fiber such as bran cereals, fruits and vegatebles.
Hemoccult Slides developed less than 3 days after sample application may give a false positive due to the presence of fruit or vegetable peroxidases which have not yet degraded.
Slides containing samples may be stored for up to 14 days at room temperature before developing.
