|Mnemonic: ||[BF PH]|
|Name: ||pH, Body Fluid|
|Specimen: || Submit 3 - 4 mL of body fluid in a clean sterile container, preferably in a capped, heparinized syringe since the airspace in a vacuum tube may alter pH.|
A heparinized syringe is NOT required. As long as the specimen in a plain syringe is not clotted or has no visible fibrin, it can be used.
Test within one hour if at room temperature. Stable for 24 hours refrigerated.
|Spec Stability: ||Stable 1 hour ambient|
| Method: ||pH electrode|
|Note: ||Indicate specific source of Body Fluid.|
