pH, Body Fluid

Mnemonic:    [BF PH]
Name:    pH, Body Fluid
Specimen:     Submit 3 - 4 mL of body fluid in a clean sterile container, preferably in a capped, heparinized syringe since the airspace in a vacuum tube may alter pH.

Test within one hour if at room temperature. Stable for 24 hours refrigerated.
Spec Stability:    Stable 1 hour ambient
  Method:    pH electrode
Note:    Indicate specific source of Body Fluid.
