Ductogram Helps Diagnose Breast Changes

A ductogram is a mammography procedure that looks for small growths in a breast duct, in order to evaluate the cause of a clear or bloody nipple discharge determined to be spontaneous, unilateral (one breast), and from a single duct, identified from one area on the nipple.

Ductography is a well-tolerated procedure that involves inserting a tiny catheter tip into the duct and inserting a small amount of liquid. A mammogram can then detect any abnormal growths.

In many cases, the growth is a papilloma, a benign growth in the lining of the breast duct.
