CMMC Birthing Center Offers Special Comforts to Mothers and Families

The Special Delivery Family Birthing Center at CMMC provides expectant parents the optimum combination of comfort, safety and security.

The Birthing Center is located in a controlled-access area, which ensures safety. The Center's family birthing rooms offer the warmth and comfort of home. Offering families even greater peace of mind - and located just steps away - are the resources of the CMMC Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit, central and western Maine's only special care nursery for premature or seriously ill babies.

In addition to private birthing rooms where the birth mom's partner or another support person can stay, the Birthing Center features two private labor tub rooms, and a variety of comforting measures to help ease mom through her labor.

Most families only stay on the Special Delivery unit for a couple of nights, but every effort is made to make this time a positive and memorable experience. Fathers, partners and siblings of the new baby may visit anytime. Grandparents, relatives and other visitors may visit daily between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.
