Become a Volunteer |
Prospective CMMC volunteers must first complete a Volunteer
Services application. To get an application, call 207-795-2472,
and an application, brochure and postage-paid envelope will
be mailed to you. If you prefer you can download the appplication
or apply on-line.
Applicants can also visit the Volunteer Services office and
pick up an application between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday
through Friday. Volunteers are usually on hand to help should
you have difficulties completing the application.
(Job shadowers, interns and practicum students, as well as
any applicant born after January 1, 1957, must provide a current
copy of his/her immunization records.)
Applicants will be contacted by telephone by the Volunteer
Services director to schedule an interview. Interviews are
important because they help determine appropriate placement
at the Medical Center. Applicants should plan on 45 minutes
for the interview.
CMMC Volunteer Health Screening Tests
In addition to discussing their health history during the
initial interview, CMMC volunteers must have an annual TB
screening. The test involves a relatively painless prick in
the skin of the forearm. The applicant must report back to
the Employee Occupational Health Office about 48 hours later
for a follow-up check. Most TB screenings result in a normal
reading; however, if the TB screen is abnormal or if the volunteer
is unable to have a TB skin test, a chest x-ray will be required.
The initial screening and annually follow-up screenings are
provided free of charge.
All applicants born on or after January 1, 1957 must provide
a current copy of his/her immunization records (this includes
teens applying to the Junior Volunteer program as well). Applicants
must have had at least one tetanus vaccination and two MMRs
(measles, mumps, rubella) vaccinations within the past 10
years.
