Research

Medical science can only advance through research. This basic premise, coupled with the promise that experimental treatments offer to some patients, has had a profound influence on Central Maine Medical Center’s philosophy for providing patient care.

In recent years, research activities at CMMC have assumed a larger profile with the opening of the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute (CMHVI), CMMC’s advanced cardiac services program. CMHVI was the first clinical service at CMMC to include research as part of its founding charter.

CMMC participates in many clinical trials for the evaluation of new therapies and/or devices. Staff members also conduct basic research concerning new therapies, devices, or surgical treatments. Research team members have diverse clinical interests. Their active involvement in research expands clinical knowledge and identifies best practices to improve patient care.

We urge you to explore these pages to learn more about research at CMMC and how it could benefit you or someone you know.
