Physician Specialties Radiology

The term radiology does not encompass the entire spectrum of modalities that most radiologists employ in their work. In addition to using radiant energy like that emitted by x-ray tubes and radionuclides, radiologists apply other medical imaging systems to obtain information for diagnosis and to guide therapeutic procedures. These other systems include ultrasonographic devices and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Radiologists gain certification through the American Board of Radiology.
