Physician Specialties Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgeons repair, reconstruct and replace physical defects of form or function involving the skin, musculoskeletal system, head and face, hand, extremities, breast and trunk, and external genitalia. They use aesthetic surgical principles not only to improve undesirable qualities of normal structures but in all reconstructive procedures as well. Plastic surgeons have special competence in the management of complex wounds, implantable materials, and tumors.

Plastic surgeons achieve certification through the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
