Physician Specialties Pediatric Cardiology

Pediatric cardiology is concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of congenital and acquired heart disease in the fetus, newborn, child and young adult. Physician practicing this specialty must have knowledge of the etiology, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, clinical course, treatment and prevention of all diseases affecting the heart and circulation of the fetus, infant, child, adolescent and young adult.

Pediatric cardiologists are certified as subspecialists by the American Board Pediatrics.
