Physician Specialties Medical Oncology

The medical oncologist specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of all types of cancer, as well as benign tumors. These specialists select and administer chemotherapy for malignancy, and consult with surgeons and radiotherapists regarding other cancer treatments.

Physicians who pursue certification in hematology through the American Board of Internal Medicine must first be certified in internal medicine.
