Surgical Specialties Otolaryngologic Surgery

Ear, nose and throat (ENT) doctors, as otolaryngologists are commonly called, are surgical specialists who diagnose and treat such problems as ear disease, sinusitis, tonsillitis, snoring, and facial cosmesis. They also play an important role in trauma care.

Ear, nose, and throat surgeons treat cancers of the larynx, mouth, and throat. Removal of tumors may involve the vocal cords, tongue, or jaw.

ENT surgeons perform surgery of the face, both for removing lesions, improving appearance, and repaired injuries caused by trauma. Skin cancers involving the ears, nose, face, lips and neck are often treated by otolaryngologists. ENT surgeons also do cosmetic procedures on the ears, nose, and face.
