Central Maine Institute for Injury Prevention |
Traumatic injuries are a leading cause of death and the leading cause of productive life lost. Its effects fall disproportionately on the young.
The Central Maine Institute for Injury Prevention is a community-based association of organizations committed to reducing loss of life, loss of function and capabilities, and the enormous direct and indirect costs of trauma caused by accidents and injuries.
CMIIP works to reduce traumatic injuries by fostering widespread recognition that trauma is a community problem that is best addressed through education.
The Institute also furthers the education objectives of the Maine Trauma System, which links the resources of Maine's hospitals and EMS system with trauma centers at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, and Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
