In recent years, research activities at CMMC have assumed a larger profile with the opening of the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute (CMHVI), CMMC¹s advanced cardiac services program. CMHVI was the first clinical service at CMMC to include research as part of its founding charter.

CMMC participates in many clinical trials for the evaluation of new therapies and/or devices.
