Our Midwives

The Certified Nurse Midwives of Central Maine Obstetrics and Gynecology provide a comfortable, intimate and caring atmosphere for their patients. As midwives, we value your ability to have a healthy pregnancy and to give birth in a supportive hospital environment where you are provided the opportunity to make choices about your birth experience.

Our nurse-midwives are very involved in labor and delivery, sometimes never leaving the mother during the labor process. They are trained to recognize signs and symptoms that deviate from normal conditions and will consult with a physician who may become involved if needed.

Our Nurses

Our goal is provide you and your family with a positive birth experience. All of our nurses have been specially trained in labor and delivery, as well as newborn, postpartum, breastfeeding, and high-risk care. In addition to their expertise, our nurses take pride in working with you to provide the best birth experience possible. We provide one-on-one care in labor and delivery and spend time with you after the birth of your baby, offering the information you need.

Certified Lactation Consultants

Certified Lactation Consultants are nurses who specialize in assisting mothers with the breastfeeding process. They help mothers with breastfeeding choices and provide information about all aspects of breastfeeding.

Other Health Professionals

CMMC also has nurse specialists trained in the field of mental health. They are available for women who may have emotional or psychological issues that have arisen during or after their pregnancy. Stress, depression and anxiety issues can come up during this time -– but with professional help, they can be treated.

CMMC also has a licensed social worker who specializes in maternal/child health.

We’ll also help you with plans following your discharge, should your baby have special needs.
