The Special Delivery Family Birthing Center provides expectant parents the optimum combination of comfort, safety and security.
Special Delivery is located in a controlled access area that provides a safe and secure environment where a family can bond with their new baby. The center's family birthing rooms embody the warmth and comfort of a home-like setting. Offering families event greater peace of mind - and located just steps away - are the resources of the CMMC Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit, central and western Maine's only special care nursery for premature or seriously ill babies.
In addition to private birthing rooms were dad or another support person can "room in," Special Delivery features two private labor tub rooms, and provides a variety of comfort measures to help ease mom through her labor.
For the family's convenience, food ordered from the center's room service menu is delivered to the patient's room between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Most families only stay on the Special Delivery unit for a couple of nights - but every effort is made to make this time a positive and memorable experience. By observing visiting hours, loved ones and friends give mothers and their babies time to learn about each other and to rest. Fathers, partners and siblings of the new baby may visit anytime. Grandparents and other visitors may visit daily between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m.
