Diabetes is a significant healthcare issue in the United States. More than 18 million Americans have diabetes. The disease can be a significant threat to good health, but with proper treatment and care, people with diabetes can live healthy, productive lives.

Central Maine Medical Center supports a physician practice, Central Maine Endocrinology, that offers specialty care for those with diabetes. The Outpatient Diabetes Education Program at CMMC offers the services of a nurse educator and registered dietitian.
