Emergency/Trauma Care |
Central Maine Medical Center was the first hospital in the state to establish a 24-hour emergency service and is recognized today as supporting one of the finest emergency care services in Maine.
CMMC's Emergency Department team includes board-certified emergency physicians and experienced physician assistants, nurse practitioners and registered nurses. The department also contains a Chest Pain Center for those experiencing the symptoms of a heart attack, and the First Care Center for walk-in patients with less serious illnesses and injuries.
In 1994 CMMC was designated as one of Maine's three trauma centers, with the special resources needed to care for the most seriously injured patients. CMMC is also a home base for the Lifeflight of Maine, the State's only medical helicopter service.
