CMMC's
FirstCare Center tends to those with less serious illnesses
or injuries.
Upon entering CMMC through the Emergency Department entrance,
patients are interviewed by a registered nurse regarding their
illness or injury. This interview determines whether the patient
will be best served in the Emergency Department or the FirstCare
Center. If the FirstCare Center offers the best alternative
for fast but appropriate treatment, the patient is directed
to the center.
Located near the Emergency Department, the FirstCare Center
includes eight treatment rooms and a treatment area for providing
intravenous therapy. The center is staffed by physician assistants,
nurse practitioners, or emergency physicians. Registered nurses,
emergency technicians, and other support personnel work with
them as a team to move patients through the evaluation and
treatment process as quickly as possible.
The FirstCare Center is open daily from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Access to the center is gained through the Emergency Department.
Telephone: 795-2160.
Why was the FirstCare Center developed?
CMMC's FirstCare Center was created in direct response to
patient requests for faster emergency service. Designed to
serve those with less serious illnesses or injuries, FirstCare
works in concert with the CMMC Emergency Department to make
certain that patients are cared for in the most appropriate
treatment locations. The FirstCare Centers close proximity
to the CMMC Emergency Department assures that the full resources
of the ED are quickly available if needed. |
