Body Mass Index (BMI) Chart |
What, exactly, is BMI? It's a calculation of height and weight that is an indirect measurement of the percentage of fat in the body. It's a more helpful measurement than pounds alone.
You can use our chart to find your approximate BMI. Simply find the place where your height (in feet and inches) meets your weight (in pounds). That number will be your BMI.

A BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 is considered to be in the healthy range. A BMI of 25-29.9 puts a person in the overweight category. A BMI over 30 is considered early, or stage I, obesity. Health issues can arise from being overweight or obese and should absolutely be dealt with.
A BMI of 40 or above indicates that a person has severe, or morbid, obesity (this drops down to a BMI of 35 if people already have certain medical conditions related to their obesity such as diabetes). This is extremely serious and means an increase in the person's risk of death from any cause by 50%-150%. Morbid obesity is the type of weight problem for which Bariatric Surgery may be a viable treatment option to help save a person's life and dramatically improve their health.
You may want to print your results and bring them to your doctor and discuss if a bariatric surgery consult might be right for you. You are also invited to attend one of our monthly weight loss surgery Informational Sessions to hear more and learn if you would be a candidate.
