Bariatric Surgery BMI Calculator

The BMI calculator can be more accurate than a BMI chart alone. Use our convenient calculator here.

The same principals apply. A BMI of 40 or above indicates that a person has severe, or morbid, obesity (this drops down to a BMI of 35 if people already have certain medical conditions related to their obesity such as diabetes). This means an increase in the person's risk of death from any cause by 50%-150%. Morbid obesity is the type of weight problem for which Bariatric Surgery may be a viable treatment option to help save a person's life and dramatically improve their health.

You may want to print your results and bring them to your doctor - to a Central Maine Medical Group Bariatric Surgery Information Session - or to your consultation at our Bariatric Practice.
