Orthopaedic Institute Physicians & Staff

The Orthopaedic Institute of Central Maine's rehabilitation team is comprised of expert physicians and other skilled professionals, including physician assistants, physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, orthotists, case managers, social workers, and registered nurses.

This team of care providers manages each patient's day-to-day care and treatment and assesses progress. Daily team meetings review each patient's specific needs and recovery. This collaboration helps everyone - care providers, patients and families - know what to expect and anticipate future needs.

Dr. Lauren Adey is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who joined Central Maine Orthopaedics in 2005. Her practice focus is surgery of the hand, wrist and elbow.

Before coming to CMO, Dr. Adey completed the nationally recognized Massachusetts General Hospital Hand Surgery Fellowship and the Harvard University Orthopaedic Residency Program. In addition, she completed a six-month sports medicine fellowship at Children's Hospital/Beth Israel Hospital in Boston.

She graduated cum laude from Williams College in Williamstown, Mass., and from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia.

Dr. Adey is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the New England Hand Society, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. David Brown is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who joined Central Maine Orthopaedics in 1991. He specializes in major orthopaedic trauma.

He is head of Central Maine Medical Center's Level 2 Trauma Program Orthopaedic Trauma Service and serves on the Maine EMS Trauma Advisory Committee.

Dr. Brown graduated from Princeton University and Albany Medical College of Union University in Albany, N.Y. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the State University of New York at Stony Brook School of Medicine/Stony Brook University Hospital, in Stony Brook, N.Y. He served a sports medicine fellowship at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington, Mass.

He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Jeffrey Bush is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who joined Central Maine Orthopaedics in 2006. His practice focuses on primary and revision hip and knee replacement, as well as hip and knee arthroscopy.

A graduate of Philadelphia's Jefferson Medical College, Dr. Bush completed a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, N.C. He completed a general surgery internship and orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Camden, N.J.

Prior to his medical training, Dr. Bush graduated from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., with a master's degree in biomedical engineering.

Dr. Matthew Bush is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who joined Central Maine Orthopaedics in 2006. He practices with a focus on hand and upper extremity surgery.

He graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Dartmouth College in Hanover, N.H., and earned his medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. He completed residency training at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City and at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence, R.I. He served a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Dr. Bush is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a candidate member of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.

Dr. Paul Cain is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who joined Central Maine Orthopaedics in 1987. He has various areas of specialty, including sports medicine, knee and shoulder arthroscopy and knee ligament reconstruction.

A graduate of the University of Vermont in Burlington, Vt., he earned his medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine, also in Burlington. He completed an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh and a general surgery residency at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass.

Dr. Cain is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (2000-2007 Council of Delegates member), the Maine Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons (president 2000-2002), the American Medical Association, the Maine Medical Association and the Androscoggin County Medical Society (president 1991-1992)

He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and holds a subspecialty certificate in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine.

Dr. Patrick Fallon is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon who joined Central Maine Orthopaedics in 2002. His areas of specialty include sports medicine as well as shoulder and knee arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery.

A graduate of the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Dr. Fallon was awarded his medical degree from Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he also completed a rotating internship. He completed an orthopaedic surgery residency and sports medicine fellowship at the University of Calgary in Calgary, Alberta. He also completed a fellowship in shoulder and knee surgery in northern Virginia.

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the New England Orthopaedic Society, and the Nu Sigma Chapter-Phi Chi Medical Fraternity. He is a fellow of the International College of Surgeons.

Dr Regan joined Central Maine Orthopaedics in 1997. He is a fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery, general orthopaedics and total joint surgery.

Upon graduating from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Mass., he completed an internship at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Va., and an orthopaedic surgery residency at Eastern Virginia Graduate School of Medicine in Norfolk, Va. He also served an orthopaedic surgery residency and orthopaedic spine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pittsburgh.

Dr Regan is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, and the Cumberland County Medical Association.

Dr. James Timoney is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in orthopaedic problems of the lower extremities, particularly foot and ankle surgery. He also specializes in sports medicine and knee and shoulder arthroscopy. Dr Timoney joined Central Maine Orthopaedics in 1993.

Dr. Timoney holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Rutgers - The State University, in New Brunswick, N.J. He earned his doctor of osteopathy degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine, where he now serves as a clinical instructor. He also serves as a clinical preceptor for the Central Maine Medical Center Family Medicine Residency Program in Lewiston, Maine.

He completed residency training in orthopaedic surgery at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, Calif.

Dr. Timoney is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Foot and Ankle Society and the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
