Services and Programming |
The Orthopaedic Institute of Central Maine offers patients and their family members educational and support services that are important to optimum rehabilitation and recovery, including the following:
- Pre-operative education classes introduce total joint replacement patients and their families to what to do and expect throughout the course of care
- Post-surgical individual instruction in walking with assistive devices and/or braces
- Tips and hints for preparing a home for a patient's safe recovery
- Instruction in self-care skills like bathing, dressing, etc.
- Home exercise training for restoring motion and strength
- Accessing post-discharge rehabilitation services such as home health therapy or outpatient therapy
