Purpose
To list those procedures which may be done on a STAT basis. The STAT list has been formulated with regard to those procedures frequently needed for urgent care and treatment of patients.
Policy
All STAT procedures must be requested by the physician and indicated in the physician's request. The following is the list of procedures that may be ordered STAT when specified by a physician.
If a physician requests that a procedure which is not on the STAT list be performed STAT, the request should immediately be referred to the appropriate supervisor, charge technologist, or pathologist.
