Outreach and Prevention Mobile Van Diagnostics Services

The Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute Wellness Van delivers cardiac prevention and screening services to our communities and citizens. The van makes regular visits to public locations throughout the central and western Maine region.

The Wellness Van has been in existence since 2000. On a weekly basis the van travels to Bridgton Hospital and Rumford Hospital, once a month to the Bethel area and to the Gray area quarterly to do bone density scanning.

Once a week the Wellness Van travels to various locations within Central and Western Maine to offer blood pressures, bone density screenings, cholesterol screenings and health risk assessments.

Bone Densitometry, also called DPX, is used to determine the density of your bones. Too much bone loss will result in osteoporosis. The bone density scan uses a very small amount of x-ray energy to evaluate your likelihood of developing an osteoporosis related fracture.

The mobile unit offers precise bone measurement in a plesant, comfortable and private environment.
