American Cancer Society: 1-800-464-3102 The American Cancer Society resource center includes comprehensive information about all different types of cancer, including the latest treatment options. ACS offers a number of patient assistance and support programs.
ASCO, the American Society of Clinical Oncologists (the world’s leading organization of medical professionals who treat people with cancer). Their “Cancer.Net” website is an accurate, reliable, and oncologist-approved source of information on more than fifty types of cancer.
Cancer Care, Inc.: 1-800-813-4673 Click on their “Cancer Types” link for prostate cancer and you will obtain a wealth of information, including stages, treatments, side effects, clinical trials, and support services, including links to many relevant websites. They also provide free counseling services via their toll-free helpline, staffed by professional oncology social workers. They also administer a financial assistance program offered by AstraZeneca for men with prostate cancer, to help with transportation, home care, child care services and pain management costs.
National Cancer Institute: 1-800-4-CANCER An excellent resource for up-to-date, accurate information about cancer, current treatment recommendations, clinical trials, and support services.
US TOO: Their mission is to assist men with prostate cancer and prostate disease. Their support systems focus on coping with the physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of this disease, and help survivors live more healthy and productive lives. The site provides updated medical information, treatment options, peer counseling, support groups, and links to other sites.
