Cancer Library |
In the fight against cancer, the most powerful weapon is knowledge. For cancer patients, having access to information about their disease and how to live with it can be especially important. Recognizing this need, Central Maine Medical Center established a Cancer Resource Library.
CMMC's library of consumer-friendly materials covers many topics of interest to cancer patients. The library's collection of books, pamphlets and videotapes explores numerous subjects, including: types of cancer, pain management, the relationship of mind and body, prevention, diet, coping and inspiration, and grief and dying.
The CMMC Cancer Resource Library is organized as a lending library and library materials can be accessed through either CMMC's Gerrish-True Health Sciences Library, Hematology-Oncology Associates, or CMMC's Cynthia A. Rydholm Cancer Treatment Center.
The CMMC Cancer Resource Library consists of some 250 books and more than 150 videos. Topics that are not addressed by the Cancer Resource Library collection are referred to the CMMC library staff for more extensive research.
Anyone seeking more information about the CMMC Cancer Resource Library is urged to call 795-2560.
