Central Maine Healthcare Counts Massachusetts General Hospital as one of its Cancer Treatment Resources
Resources of one of the world's top cancer programs are available to patients at Central Maine Healthcare hospitals and Parkview Adventist Medical Center.
For most cancer patients, CMMC can provide the required diagnostic and treatment services. CMMC provides comprehensive medical, surgical and radiation oncology, and supports a dedicated breast care center (The Sam and Jennie Bennett Breast Care Center). Also, The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing provides free support, outreach and wellness services to anyone affected by cancer. However, a relatively small population of patients requires care not available locally. These are the patients who benefit from care at MGH.
Our affiliation effectively streamlines the process of connecting CMMC patients to MGH cancer subspecialists: often patients are seen within 24 hours of being referred. Once a patient has received specialty services at MGH, follow-up services are provided at CMMC if possible.
Massachusetts General Hospital has treatment programs for nearly 40 different cancers, plus numerous support programs. In addition, MGH’s transportation system helps ease the burden of travel for Maine patients.

Its Emergency Department records nearly 80,000 visits annually. The surgical staff performs more than 35,000 operations and the MGH Vincent Obstetrics Service delivers more than 3,500 babies each year.
