Your Support Options - Pastoral Care

Pastoral Care Available to Our Patients

Pastoral care is about relationships. These relationships include you, your relationship to others, and what is beyond or transcends all of us.

Chaplains aspire to be a spiritual companion to others. We seek to join with you in your life experiences. Building relationships based on trust, integrity, honesty, respect, confidentiality and a sense of humor, we desire to be of service as you examine and seek to understand what is going on within you and in your life.

Chaplains offer the quality of presence, in hopes that it will encourage expression of emotions and thoughts, in naming hopes and fears. We seek to listen deeply, to give support without being intrusive. We would like to be a resource for strength, refuge, meaning and belonging.

Hearing a diagnosis, undergoing treatment, living with a disease, seeking to be who you are in the midst all that is happening – and at the same time striving to fulfill your life's purpose, involves evaluating beliefs, values and meaning. This frequently is a time of examination and reevaluation. Questions and concerns need to be voiced and heard. Support is often desired in such moments. Together we come to learn about the value and integrity of life and what truly matters. An intentional, more conscious approach to living often results. If this process sounds helpful for you or a loved one, call the Pastoral Care office at 207-795-2290.
