We believe that, as nurses of Central Maine Healthcare, our role is to embody a sense of professional presence that encompasses our patients, families, communities, and peers. We understand the ever-changing nature of our practice and will consistently seek opportunities for self improvement, knowing that we are accountable for our own professional growth and development. We recognize this is essential to provide the highest quality care to our patients in today's healthcare environment.

We believe that we must seek to promote an environment that is conducive to health and wellness through the existence of services and support. All individuals are entitled to a therapeutic environment which fosters unconditional respect for their physiological, psychological, socioeconomic, cultural, and spiritual needs. This practice of holistic nursing promotes an environment for optimal well being of the body, mind, and spirit.

We believe that all nurses deserve respect and support for the specialized contribution they make in the delivery of health care. We value each individual nurse's professional potential and ability to positively affect care and outcomes. We also value and respect the knowledge, skills, and contributions of all members of the health care team by acknowledging their unique contributions to meet the needs of patients, families, and the communities we serve.

We believe that the nurse is an educator who assists individuals, families, and the communities to identify and understand local, national, and global healthcare issues and available resources. In this role, we act as an interpreter and advocate within the ever changing healthcare system to promote optimal health and wellness among individuals and communities.
